Tekmetric for Mobile Mechanics: A Shop App Out of Its Shop
Tekmetric is good repair shop software, and its phone app handles inspections and the job board, but it is built for a building with bays. A mobile mechanic gets no published way to put the day's stops in order, booking that does not know a service area, and two-way texting only from the $439 Scale plan.
56.5 / 100, ranked #4 of 8. Mobile Service Sync scores 100.0. Best for: A repair shop with bays and several technicians, since every plan has unlimited users.
Tekmetric in a Driveway
The good part travels: Tekmetric decodes a VIN or a plate on every plan, and Tekmetric Mobile puts inspections and the job board on an iPhone or Android phone. A mechanic can build a clean inspection in a driveway.
What does not travel is the day itself. Tekmetric's pricing and feature pages name no routing, so the order of the stops is worked out somewhere else. Its help center talks about internet speed and a backup connection for outages rather than an offline mode, which says something about where it expects to be used.
Customers can book online only through the Marketing add-on, $345 a month per shop on top of the plan, and that booking caps jobs per day and per slot but never asks whether the address is inside your area. Two-way texting, the thread a mobile customer actually answers, starts on Scale at $439 a month.

What a Mobile Mechanic Gets Instead
